Description | Russia's major petrochemicals company Nizhnekamskneftekhim bought a 12.5% stake in Russia's regional power generating utility, Tatenergo. Tatenergo produced a total of 23.8 billion KW of power in 2001. As of 2002, Tatarstan State Property Committee owned 35.2% of the company's shares, Nizhnekamskneftekhim and Co. 15.6%, TAIF 10%, Tatneftekhiminvest holding 3%, other corporate investors and nominal shareholders 15.7%, and private investors 20.5%. As of January 2004, Tatenergo was owned by OAO Svyazinvestneftekhim (51%) and the Tatarstan land ministry (49%). OAO Svyazinvestneftekhim was a 100% government owned holding company. Tatenergo was set up in April 2003 during the privatization of Production Energy Unity Tatenergo. As of January 2004, OAO Svyazinvestneftekhim, a holding company wholly owned by the regional government, owns 51% of the company and Tatarstan's Ministry of Land and Property Relations has 49%. |
