Description | The Tauhei Solar Farm is a 202 MWp solar power project located on a 182-hectare site near Hamilton in New Zealand's North Island. It involves the installation of 330,000 photovoltaic panels and is set to become New Zealand's largest operational solar farm upon completion. The project is a joint venture between British renewables developer Harmony Energy and New Zealand company First Renewables, with construction led by Elecnor. The facility will generate approximately 280 GWh of renewable electricity annually, enough to power about 35,000 homes, and will connect to the national grid via Transpower's 110 kV Waihou substation. Meridian Energy has signed a power purchase agreement to buy 100% of the output for the first 10 years. |
