Description

Description

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, in partnership with easyJet and other industry players, has introduced automated TaxiBot technology to move aircraft between the gate and runway without using the planes’ main engines. This initiative supports Schiphol’s sustainability ambitions and aims to cut fuel use, greenhouse gas emissions and noise at one of Europe’s busiest airports. The TaxiBot is a semi-robotic ground tractor designed to tow aircraft under pilot control from the terminal stand to the runway, allowing engines to remain off until the plane is ready for departure. Schiphol is the first European airport to implement electric TaxiBot systems for Airbus aircraft operations, focusing initially on the Polderbaan runway with plans for additional units to serve more aircraft types in the future.
