Description | In May 2006, KazTransGaz, a Kazakhstan’s government owned company bought 100 % in Tbilgaz, the gas distribution company for the Georgian capital, for $12.5 million. In 2005, Tbilgaz served over 200,000 homes and up to 400 major industrial enterprises which served with 2,000-km gas network. But the network was in poor condition and the company was declared bankrupt in 2005. Tbilgaz had debt exceeding US$100 million in 2005. KazTransGaz committed to invest $82 million in the 2,000-km Tbilisi gas network, and planned start by "establishing order" in the distribution system and stopping unauthorized siphoning off of gas. KazTransGaz won Tbilgaz through a public tender process in which Gazprom also participated, but KazTransGaz was the only qualified bidder that submitted final bid. cannot find info - tbilgaz.ge is blocked by the WB and KazTransgaz.kz does not mention tbilgaz |
