Tłįchǫ all-season road PPP project

The Tłįchǫ all-season road project consists of the construction and operation of a 94 km all-season road from km 196 of Highway 3, west of Behchoko, north to the existing all-season road near Whatì, in the Northwest Territories, the central province of Northern Canada. The road is a two-lane all-season gravel road with a 60m wide right of way. The contract will be a 29 year contract, with four years of construction and 25 years of operations.The road will provide year-round access to Whatì and also increase the window of access to the communities of Gamètì and Wekweètì. With more reliable access, it is expected that the essential goods and materials on which residents rely can be transported to these communities at less expensive rates. It will also provide access to new areas of undeveloped mineral resources in Northern Canada.
