Description

Description

The public hospital Chinese Medicine Hospital Baise City in the city of Baise, which has a population of 3.8 million, is located in the autonomous province of Guangxi-Zhuang, around 2,500 km southwest of Beijing near the North Vietnamese border. The hospital's direct catchment area includes around 1.8 million residents, of whom around 90% belong to the Zhuang minority. Around 25% of the province's population live below the regional poverty line (2,300 RMB). The hospital specializes in the areas of (1) Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM, including Zhuang medicine), (2) Stomatology and (3) Gynecology, which make up the majority of treatments. Because the hospital is focused on TCM, minorities in particular are part of the target group. The FC development loan amounting to EUR 15 million will be used to finance medical-technical equipment (approx. 70%) and the construction of a new building for inpatients. A sewage treatment plant and the power supply will be financed by the Chinese side and provided in parallel. After completion of the new buildings, the hospital's capacity for treating inpatients will increase from 104 to 500 beds.
