Description
Description | The project will help advance the preparation of the Kambarata 1 hydropower plant so that it is ready to be financed by interested financiers and donors. The project will support activities in these areas as described below. Component 1 is expected to update the technical and economic feasibility which will identify the gaps in the previous studies, carry out additional activities as needed, possibly including physical modelling, surveys, site investigation and laboratory testing required, confirming and finalizing the selection of dam type to bring the feasibility study up-to-date and make it “bankable” and also additional work required prior to preparation of the tender documents. Component 2 will review the existing environmental and social studies, conducting additional activities including biodiversity study as required, carry out consultation with different stakeholders and updating the environmental and social documents to meet World Bank’s ESF requirements. The component will also help design an implementable benefit sharing mechanism with local community to ensure equitable and sustainable development and implementation over the long-term period. Component 3 will further support the assessment and selection of financing options, including equity investors, commercial, bilateral and multilateral debt financing, and assist in reviewing and proposing benefit and risk sharing arrangement among various stakeholders. The proposed TA project is aligned with the overarching goal of the Country Partnership Framework (CPF) 2019–22 (Report No. 130399-KG) to promote diversified, export-oriented, inclusive, sustainable growth, focusing on conditions for private sector investment. It is also aligned with the CPF 2024–2028 that is currently being developed. |
