Description

Description

Simran, is a 100% owned subsidiary of Techno Electric & Engineering Company Limited (Techno or the Group). Techno is a power sector engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company for the last three decades and has recently started investing in wind power projects. Techno including its subsidiaries already has 95.45 MW of operating wind power assets in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The Company is developing two wind farm projects (75.90 MW + 51.00 MW) aggregating 126.90 MW located in Tirunelveli and Tiruppur districts respectively in Tamil Nadu (“Project”). Of the total capacity proposed, 25.20 MW comprised of 12 x 2.1 MW wind turbine generators (WTGs) is located in Amadapuram/Devarkulam, Sankarankovil Taluk, Tirunelveli district. A further 50.70 MW comprised of 12 x 2.1 MW WTGs and 17 x 1.5 MW WTGs is proposed at Rastha Taluk in Tirunelveli District. The 51.00 MW located in Mutthiampatti, Dharapuram Taluk, Tiruppur District is comprised of 34 x 1.5 MW WTGs. All these sites are being developed by Suzlon (“Developer”) on a turnkey basis, which involves securing land, necessary consents and approvals, material, construction and commissioning. Further, the Project will be operated and maintained (O&M) by Suzlon under an O&M contract with Simran. The Project also involves setting up for each WTG a transformer switchyard and a transmission line to the nearest substation but other infrastructure facilities (i.e. central monitoring station, maintenance workshop; stores; and staff quarters) will be shared with Suzlon’s other projects/WTGs. Typically, each central monitoring station (CMS) is an O&M hub (with stores and personnel from various functions) and caters to 50-75 WTGs installed within a 15 km radius from the CMS. A 11 kV or 33 kV transmission line comprised of conductors mounted on 11 m high poles will be constructed and connected to the nearest 220 kV substation, the nearest facility of the state utility (Tamil Nadu Electricity Board). The WTGs at Muthiampatti site will be connected to the 200 MW TNEB substation located at Velarasi Vadamalaipalayam, which is at about 7 km from the Muthiampatti site. Further, 25 MW of the Amdapuram site will be connected to a 100 MW substation at Amthapuram located at about 10 km from the site and the balance 50.70 MW will be connected to a 200 MW substation at Rastha located at about 7 km from the Rastha project site. Total land required for the Project is expected to be about 375 acres spread over all the WTG locations in Tirunelveli and Tiruppur districts and includes the land for WTGs, transformer yard and access roads. Typically, each WTG is located in the center of a 100 x 100 m land plot, which includes also the transformer and switchyard for the WTG. However, 5 acres of land is usually purchased for each WTG location to be used as lay down area and for use by cranes during WTG installation and if required, for O&M purposes. The T-Line footprint is limited to a 1 x 1 m area around each pole. The Project WTGs will be located in a sparsely populated, generally flat or mildly undulating terrain on privately owned cultivated or barren land.
