Tejas Mk2 Fighter Jet Program

The Tejas Mk2 is a 4.5-generation multirole combat aircraft developed to replace the Indian Air Force's ageing fleets. It features advanced avionics, an indigenous Uttam AESA radar, and a greater weapons payload. The aircraft is designed around the GE F414-INS6 engine, providing 98 kN of thrust, which is a significant upgrade from the F404 engine used in the Tejas Mk1A. The program includes joint manufacturing of the F414 engine in India with 80% technology transfer, aiming for first flight by 2027 and production by 2031 with over 200 jets planned for manufacture.
