Description | The Telangana Power Generation Corporation has awarded a 375 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity project, split equally between Coal India Limited and Sarus Infrastructures. Coal India secured 187.5 MW/750 MWh capacity to be developed at the Choutuppal substation under the Telangana Transmission Corporation. The project aims to improve grid stability by storing electricity during low demand and supplying power during peak hours, with commissioning required within 18 months of contract signing. The Government of India supports the project with Viability Gap Funding (VGF) of ₹18 lakh per MWh. |
