Telenord was established as a closed joint stock company between Murmansk Electrosvyaz and Telecominvest and started its commerical operations in 1995 with equipment provided by nokia. The company’s network with a capacity of 5 thousand subscribers covered the area of 34,000 square km and had 18 base stations and about 3,000 subscribers by 2003. In July 2012, Rostelecom established 100% control over Skylink and Tele-Nord by extension. Rostelecom acquired Svyazinvest's 50% stake in Sky Link in exchange for 1.91% of its own shares for a total of 9.4 billion roubles ($291.04 million). http://www.skylink.ru/default.aspx?r=51 Info for Skylink (and hence Tele-Nord) are consolidated at the Rostelecom overall company level. |
