Information Water Resources Department, Govt. of A.P has come up with Telugu Ganga Development Project with a ticket size of 6671.63 INR Crores. This project in Irrigation sub-sector involves The current status of the project is Completion Certificate/COD and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project Telugu Ganga Project is an Inter-State Project formulated to irrigate 5.75 lakh acres in drought phone areas of Rayalaseema and uplands of SPSR Nellore District in Andhra Pradesh by utilizing 29TMC of Krishna flood flows and 30TMC of Pennar flood flows. Further it is also provides drinking water to Chennai City utilizing 15TMC of Krishna water with 5 TMC share of each state of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra. The ayacut contemplated is 5.75 Lakh Acres i.e., 1.08 Lakh Acres in Kurnool District, 1.67 Lakh Acres Kadapa District, 2.54 Lakh Acres in Nellore District and 0.46 Lakh Acres in Chittoor District. It also contemplates to generate 33 M.W power at Velugodu [9M.W], Chennamukkapalli [15 M.W.], Kandaleru [9 M.W]. Satya Sai Ganga Canal [K.P.Canal] runs for a length of 151.887 Kms from Kandaleru Reservoir upto Andhra Pradesh ,Tamilnadu border to irrigate 3,00,000 Acres in Nellore and Chittoor Districts in addition to supply of 15 TMC of drinking water to Chennai city. The canal takes off from the Right side of Kandaleru Reservoir with sill level at +60.000 M and with a head discharge of 113.27 cumecs [4000 Cusecs]. The ayacut of 3,00,000 Acres under Satya Sai Ganga Canal is distributed through 1 to 9 Branch Canals in Nellore and Chittoor Districts. The T.G.P & GNSS. Circle, Srikalahasti is entrusted the C.C. lining works in the balance reaches of S.S.G.Canal from Km.0.000 to Km.151.887 and also execution of 6th to 9th Branch Canals & their distributary systems to provide irrigation facilities to a contemplated Ayacut of 1,45,000 [Nellore : 90674 Acres, Chittoor: 54326 Acres]
