Tembo Climate, a project development company registered in Mauritius, and IFC are looking to collaborate on project development activities to support the manufacturing and distribution of improved efficiency cookstoves to rural households in Malawi (“The Project”). The Project outcomes will support Tembo Climate to generate carbon credits under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement (PA) through an offtake agreement between the Government of Malawi and the Government of Switzerland. IFC intends to provide project preparation support required through managing and funding external consultants and deploying IFC's in-house expertise and resources to achieve financial close of the Project. A key focus of the collaboration will be supporting Tembo with the evaluation of the project by the Klik Foundation, the agency mandated by the Government of Switzerland, to achieve the requirements for an offtake agreement by the Government of Switzerland. The IFC team will support Tembo Climate at this early stage and ensure that key learnings from similar projects are employed to mitigate risk and develop a robust project.
