TEMPUS, SPIRITUS i TOKES is a two-year project focused on the active involvement of citizens in EU policies through the enhancement of cultural and natural heritage. The initiative involves the territories of Novara in Italy and Lezha in Albania, with activities aimed at young people (18-30), young parents, vulnerable people and people over 60. It stems from a reflection: In the 1990s, man-made works began to hide the interiority of places, causing concern among citizens and authorities with the risk of getting used to seeing only the façades, forgetting the inner topography made of feelings and memories. Traditional cultures interpreted the territory in a ‘sacred’ way, and our project aims to rediscover this interpretation, giving citizens a voice. During the project, participants will have the opportunity to take part in exchanges with people from other EU countries, participate in workshops, conferences and discussions, and rediscover the territories and their material and immaterial heritage. Indeed, we believe that respecting and protecting the territory allows its energy to live and reach us. Our aim is to promote an informed, aware and responsible lifestyle, in harmony with the environment and the soul of places. The overarching goal is to engage citizens in participatory dialogues on EU priorities, using cultural and natural heritage as spaces for civic reflection, for the democratic debate, and the co-creation of a shared European future.
