Description | The TeraFab project is a strategic partnership between Intel and Elon Musk's xAI to establish a massive AI supercomputer factory designed to produce terascale AI chips. The initiative aims to overcome global chip shortages, reduce America's reliance on foreign manufacturing, and produce custom silicon to dominate the AI chip industry. The factory is planned to be located in Texas or Nevada and is backed by over $10 billion in investments, including potential subsidies from the CHIPS Act. Groundbreaking is scheduled for Q3 2026, with the goal of producing an equivalent of over 100,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs by 2026 and scaling up to over 500,000 GPUs annually by 2029. |
