Description | Aéroports de Paris Management (ADPM) was selected by the government of Mauritius to finance, build, and manage Terminal 2 of the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam international airport. The terminal was to have a capacity of 4 million passengers (up to 1,640 passengers per hour at peak times), 57,000 square meters of new surface area, 8 contact stands, 52 check-in desks, 6 baggage claim carrousels, and 9 telescopic air bridges. ADPM was selected to finance, build, and manage the new terminal, jointly with the Mauritian public company AML (Airport of Mauritius Ltd.) ADPM also signed a technical assistance contract to ensure implementation of the new terminal project. It also signed a management contract for three years after the opening of the terminal. Aéroports de Paris Engineering (ADPI) signed at two-year supervision contract for the construction of the new terminal and associated infrastructure. They were chosen to carry out the design and engineering of the terminal and surrounding area. The terminal cost $383 million to construct (Rs 11 billion). Around 85% of the the project was financed by a loan from the EXIM Bank of China to the Mauritius Port Authority. Construction commenced on March 30, 2011, and was expected to be completed by December 2012. By November 2011, 41% of the project had been completed. Works on the passenger terminal were 90% complete. The overall apron construction was 60% complete. As of November 2011, Terminal 2 was expected to be operational in 2013. PPP update. |
