Description

Description

This dry bulk terminal was constructed by Moinho Dias Branco SA Comercio e Industria. The works started in December 2003, and the terminal began operations in December 2004 (ANTAQ issued the operation license in August 2005). The terminal operations were transferred to C. Port, a logistic company. The terminal aimed at handling grains, particularly fertilizers and soy beans that are produced in the western region of Bahia state. A total of US$ 51.2 million (BRL 150 million) was invested in the terminal with a storage capacity of 130 thousand tons. In 2008, another storage facility with a handling capacity of 350 thousand tons to be dedicated exclusively to soy beans export was expected to be constructed, along with a second berth. In June 2009, BNDES approved a US$ 53 million (BRL 106 million) loan to finance the expansion works, whose total cost was expected to reach US$ 250 million (BRL 500 million). Of this value, US$ 175 million (BRL 350 million) was directed to the first phase of the expansion works, while the remaining investment was expected to be implemented in 2011. The environmental licenses to construct and operate these new facilities were issued in March 2010, and the construction works on the first phase were completed by June 2010.
