Description | IFC is considering investing an “A” loan of up to US$18 million to finance the US$ 53 million project of Terra S.P.R.L. (“Terra”) and African Milling Company Congo S.P.R.L. (“AMCC”), an integrated maize farming and milling operation in Katanga, a province in Southern Democratic Republic of Congo (“DRC”). The Project consists mainly of:Expansion of Terra’s maize farm from current 1,500ha to approximately 5,000ha by 2017;Greenfield construction of AMCC maize mill with 336 ton-per-day capacity. The project sponsors have financed almost all needed capital expenditures and the mill is almost completed. The mill is expected to be commissioned in mid-2014; and,Working capital for Terra and AMCC operations (e.g. farming inputs for Terra; and external purchase of maize grain for the milling at AMCC). |
