Description
Description | TerraPower, backed by Bill Gates, has developed an advanced nuclear energy project featuring the Natrium reactor and energy storage system. The project utilizes an AI-powered platform developed with SoftServe and NVIDIA Omniverse to reduce the design timeline from 18 months to 8 weeks, accelerating deployment. The Natrium reactor is a sodium-cooled fast reactor with configurations ranging from 500 MW to 2 GW of carbon-free power. The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission has approved the construction permit for the first commercial-scale advanced nuclear plant in Wyoming, covering Kemmerer Unit 1, a 345-megawatt reactor. Construction is planned to begin soon, with operation expected in the early 2030s. |
