Description | Tesla planned an all-new $25,000 electric vehicle (EV), referred to by investors and enthusiasts as the Model 2, intended to be a low-cost, mass-market EV designed and built from scratch on a new platform. The project was touted as a testbed for manufacturing innovations to lower EV costs. However, the project was canceled, and Tesla pivoted to focus on self-driving robotaxis. Instead of the all-new model, Tesla is working on stripped-down versions of the Model 3 sedan and Model Y compact SUV, with delayed rollout expected in the first half of 2025. |
