Description
Description | Tesla planned to build a manufacturing facility in India but officially abandoned the project after nearly a decade of negotiations and broken promises. The project was hindered by a tariff standoff where Tesla wanted lower import tariffs before committing to a factory, while India wanted a factory commitment before lowering tariffs. Tesla's existing factories were operating at about 60% capacity, and the company had sold fewer than 400 vehicles in India, making the factory economically unviable. |
