The facility is expected to cost about $7 billion and generate an initial 2,500 megawatts of electricity, making it one of the largest power plants of its kind in the United States. The project is located near Pecos, close to the Texas-New Mexico border in the Permian Basin, an area rich in natural gas supply. The project includes the use of seven U.S.-made GE Vernova Inc. 7HA natural gas turbines and aims to begin operations by 2027. The project is in exclusive talks with Microsoft and investment firm Engine No. 1 for a long-term electricity supply agreement. |
