The facility is expected to cost about $7 billion and generate an initial 2,500 megawatts of electricity, making it one of the largest power plants of its kind in the United States. It is located near Pecos, close to the Texas-New Mexico border, in the Permian Basin, an area rich in natural gas supply. The project includes the use of seven U.S.-made GE Vernova Inc. 7HA natural gas turbines scheduled for delivery in 2026. The project is in exclusive talks with Microsoft and Engine No. 1 for long-term electricity supply and is targeted to begin operations by 2027. |
