Description | AEP Texas has entered a $3.26 billion loan agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy to finance approximately 100 projects aimed at lowering electricity costs, strengthening, and modernizing the Texas electric grid. The projects include rebuilding, reconductoring, and building new transmission lines spanning about 2,800 miles to increase capacity, reduce power interruptions, and connect new reliable baseload generation sources. This initiative supports growth in one of the nation's fastest-growing regions and aims to meet increasing electricity demand from data centers, advanced manufacturing, and oil and natural gas development in the Permian Basin. |
