Description | NRG is developing three natural gas generation projects supported by the Texas Energy Fund (TEF). The first project, TH Wharton, is expected to come online in May 2026, on time, on cost, and on specification, qualifying for the TEF completion bonus. The aggregate capacity of these three projects is 1.5 gigawatts, targeted to serve about 300,000 Texas homes at peak demand. These projects were developed at costs well below current new build costs due to early site preparation before the TEF program existed. The remaining TEF projects continue to progress on schedule with expected commercial operation dates in 2028. |
