Description | Texas is planning to build at least 140 new data centers in rural communities statewide, adding 75,089 MW of capacity to the existing 84 operating data centers with 3,789 MW capacity. These projects are tracked by Cleanview and are expected to significantly increase Texas's share in the national data center market, potentially making it the nation's leading data center market by 2028 and possibly the world's largest by 2030. The planned data centers are distributed across various rural areas including San Antonio to Dallas, the Panhandle, Wichita Falls, west Texas, El Paso, Victoria, Palestine, Brownsville, areas west of Houston, Rockport, and north of Tyler. The largest planned data centers include GW Ranch (7,650 MW) and Nexus Data Centers Hubbard (7,200 MW). |
