Description | Three bills targeting wind and solar power in Texas proposed new 'firming' requirements that would have required large wind and solar plants to be matched MW for MW by new non-battery dispatchable power such as gas-powered generation. The bills also included limitations on siting of projects and required half of the state's new generation to be non-battery and dispatchable. These bills passed the Senate but failed to attract enough votes in the Texas House of Representatives by the end of the legislative session on 2025-06-02, effectively killing the bills for now. |
