Description
Description | The TGEU OG 2026 is a comprehensive project aimed at advancing trans rights across Europe. Aligned with EU priorities and the LGBTIQ Equality Strategy, TGEU's OG 2026 will contribute to a more inclusive Europe. It prioritises network strengthening and organisational stability, targeted advocacy strategies, and greater visibility of trans issues to demonstrably increase our collective impact on EU rights, equality, values, and citizenship and foster greater inclusion of trans people in society. Activities include strengthening TGEU’s internal governance, financial stability, and human resources while expanding membership engagement and fundraising strategies to ensure long-term sustainability. At the advocacy level, the project works to influence legal and policy changes at the EU and broader European level, engaging with EU policymakers and institutions to promote and protect trans rights. Key efforts include improving access to legal gender recognition, improving legal literacy of trans people, addressing discrimination in healthcare and employment, advocating for the rights of trans asylum seekers, and combating hate speech and disinformation. Leadership development and network strengthening are a core component, with training programs designed to empower activists and support grassroots movements. These activities use a combination of measures such as good practice and mutual learning exchanges, preparing policy briefings, and network strengthening. Research and communication play a critical role in the project, with updates to the Trans Rights Map, ongoing tracking of anti-trans narratives online, and targeted communications to policymakers and members. Publications such as toolkits and policy reports will be used to inform and strengthen advocacy efforts while targeted awareness campaigns and strategic communication initiatives will enhance trans visibility across Europe. |
