Description | ABB is partnering with Lithium Americas to provide electrification technology for the Thacker Pass lithium mining project in Nevada, which is located above North America's largest known lithium resource. The project aims to produce 40,000 metric tonnes of lithium carbonate annually, supporting the supply chain for approximately 800,000 electric vehicles. ABB will supply a range of electrification infrastructure including switchgear, motor control centres, variable speed drives, auxiliary power distribution packages, and a site-wide power management system, integrated within optimized electrical buildings for remote deployment. The project involves collaboration with engineering, procurement, and construction management partner Bechtel and includes digital platforms for monitoring energy use, asset health, and productivity. |
