The Thacker Pass Lithium Project Phase 1 is a large-scale lithium extraction and processing facility in northern Nevada, USA. It involves a $2.93 billion investment, including a $2.26 billion Department of Energy loan, to develop the largest active lithium resource in the United States. The project incorporates advanced Emerson automation systems for process control, safety, environmental monitoring, and predictive maintenance to produce up to 40,000 metric tons of battery-grade lithium carbonate annually, supporting the production of approximately 800,000 electric vehicle batteries per year. Construction is underway with mechanical completion expected in late 2027 and production starting in 2028.
