Description | Thacker Pass is a lithium project in Humboldt County, Nevada, designed for nominal production capacity of 40,000 tonnes per year of battery-quality lithium carbonate. The project is owned by a joint venture between Lithium Americas (62% interest) and General Motors Holdings LLC (38% interest). Construction is advancing rapidly with a target for mechanical completion of Phase 1 in late 2027. The project is supported by a $2.23 billion loan from the U.S. Department of Energy and strategic investments from GM and Orion Resource Partners LP. |
