Tharisa Minerals Underground Mining Project

under construction

Tharisa Minerals has commenced the transition from open pit to underground mining at its chrome and platinum group metals operation in South Africa's Bushveld Complex. The project involves a bord and pillar underground mining operation designed to sustain production at 5.6 Mt/y with potential to increase to 6.2 Mt/y, extending the mine life beyond the depletion of open pit resources expected in 2034. Cementation Africa is the key development partner responsible for early works, main development, and production ramp-up over five years.
