Description
Description | Chengde Medical University, founded in 1945, offers bachelor's and master's degree programs in medicine. In addition to a number of modern medical research facilities, the university also has 8 hospitals and 63 teaching hospitals. The most important is the Affiliated Hospital of Chengde Medical University (AHCMU), founded in 1949. This general hospital of the highest category (Third Grade, Class A) currently has 52 medical and technical departments with a capacity of 1,600 beds, of which the orthopedic department with its 400 beds has been relocated due to lack of space. The hospital's two special disciplines are orthopedics and pediatrics. AHCMU serves the city of Chengde with its 3.7 million inhabitants as a central hospital, and its catchment area as a reference hospital extends into the north and northeast of Hebei Province. Due to constantly increasing demand, capacities are overloaded. The existing facilities in Chengde cannot meet the growing need. Chengde currently has a bed capacity of 3.52 beds per thousand inhabitants, which is below the average for Hebei Province of 4.02 and significantly below the target of the twelfth 5-year plan of 4.5/1,000. In relation to the demographic and disease development in China (epidemiological transition) and in comparison to developed countries such as Germany (5.7/1,000), Chengde still has a lot of catching up to do. By building and equipping a new hospital complex in the urban development zone New Town in the south of Chengde with modern equipment, the supply capacity is to be increased to a total of 2,400 beds. A FC subsidy loan is to be used primarily for the purchase of modern medical-technical equipment and, to a lesser extent, for medical-construction equipment services. |
