Description | Bouygues Travaux Publics is a member of a consortium building an offshore viaduct forming part of the new coastal highway in the north of Reunion Island. Replacing the current cliff road between Saint-Denis and La Possession, which is overloaded and vulnerable to the risk of rockfall, the offshore viaduct will form an arc between Saint-Denis and La Grande Chaloupe. More than 95% of the structures used for the construction will be prefabricated on land and then for the most part installed at sea. This solution limits the use of concrete and steel and the need for marine construction equipment, which consumes fuel heavily, and will allow a 15% reduction in CO2 emissions while ensuring greater durability. |
