The Daylu Dena Council Multi-Purpose Cultural Building

The Daylu Dena Council (DDC), located in Lower Post in northern BC, will construct a new, transformational multi-purpose cultural building that will serve as a space for community events and gatherings. The community currently does not have space to host government officials, community meetings and events, and indoor cultural activities. The community lacks infrastructure in the form of facilities for older youth, recreation for both summer and winter, and viable gathering space to heal and rebuild their once strong and vibrant culture. The building will be designed around the local community’s interests, community groups, culture and traditions. We envision a multi-use building that includes spaces for recreation, education, heritage, culture, as well as spaces designed for our Elders to gather, including rooms for beading, storytelling and Elder’s Tea. The project works will include: - Construction of a community multi-purpose cultural building with program space, including; - Site work, landscaping, outdoor recreational installations, heritage spaces, garden installations; - Concrete and formwork metals; - Log package, framing, floors, trusses; - Finished carpentry; - Gym floor, drywall, ceilings, tiles, baseboards, painting; - Industrial kitchen; - Equipment; - Mechanical Electrical works; and, -Temporary buildings.
