The Distant Near

The Distant Near is a co-production between Germany, Poland, and India, intended for the European and International market. The film is going to release in cinemas and further on TV channels and platforms. It is based on the life of the known German runner for the Olympics in the 20s, Otto Peltzer, who lived openly gay. After he survived the concentration camp, he had no possibility to live and work in post-war Germany or other European countries. He found fulfilment as a trainer of the Olympic runners in India, who won against the German elite runners. Bombay Berlin Film Production in Germany and ORKA in Poland are applying for Co-Devlopment funding with the aim to improve the project, so it will be successful in the European and international markets. The film is going to be directed by the artistically excellent Polish director Rafael Kapelinski. The internationally known German actor August Diehl confirmed playing the role of the lead. The objective is to develop and co-produce a film with European partners which will reach a large audience in Europe and the World, strengthening the position of Europe in the world and the global market.
