“Climate Change doesn’t exist”. “Climate Change isn’t real”. “Young people don’t need to worry, we are dealing with it”. Very commonly used narratives against all scientific evidence, that is used to argue against the urgency of the situation concerning climate change. Often young people have to face those narratives, within their families, school, communities, when interacting with policy and decision makers. An emergency that is threatening their future is denied or in best case taken with reassurance. How can those narratives be reversed? How can young people be able to speak up for action? Immediate consequences of the Covid-19 crisis revealed that despite world economies having stopped for months, the emissions decreased only at the level of 2016 - reiterating the importance of needed transformation to mitigate climate change. Despite the recent adoption of the ban of single plastic use by the EU, its impact is a decrease of only 7% of plastic pollution in Europe. The main goal of the project is to develop a youth-driven data-based approach in addressing climate change in Europe, transforming youth organisations to be relevant forward looking structures that support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals and leverage youth activism to enable young Europeans to be active citizens creating positive change in their communities. In order to achieve this, youth organisations taking part in this project will receive tailor-made, country and region specific capacity building, that includes peer-to-peer learning, staff development, educational methods training, organisational development support and more, as further described in the work packages. The aim of the action is to leverage youth activism, digital technology and dialogue to enable young Europeans to be active citizens creating positive change in their communities.
