The ENN, founded in 2007 by the Council of the Notariats of the European Union (CNUE) is an instrument of mutual assistance between the member Notariats of CNUE. It aims at bringing technical legal support to notaries dealing with cross-border cases. The ENN, composed of interlocutors from 22 Member States, aims at being the European notaries’ single-entry point for such technical and legal assistance in cross-border case handling and for supporting notaries with the efficient application of EU law. With the help of ENN tools and information, notaries can better apply EU law, in particular on authentic instruments, successions, family law, company law or mediation. The constant increase of the ENN platform’s quality, usability and adaptation to practitioners’ needs should attract more users. Mutual learning, sharing of experience and interconnecting notaries from the CNUE member Notariats contributes to the development of practical solutions in cross border legal situations, thereby building a European legal culture. For the next four years, the Network will focus on consolidating ENN activities following the COVID-crisis, in particular physical meetings and workshops, but also improving ENN tools as well as a better identification of the concrete needs of notaries for cross-border mutual assistance. Alongside regular meetings, workshops and maintenance of the ENN online platform, the ENN plans a special 15-years ENN event in 2022, the edition of a new image brochure, a new visual identity, the publication of a new practical guide on EU company law focusing on digitalisation, an update of the ENN guide on the EU Succession Regulation, guidance on the fight against money laundering, an update of the protection of the minors section on www.the-vulnerable.eu, and a survey among notaries on their needs for mutual assistance in cross-border case handling.
