Description

"The aim of the Project EURA is to develop new teaching and research activities on the European integration process with a high degree of excellence. The objectives are to be achieved through: 1. The creation and development of the Project's website, where the most important material on the EU and more specifically on the Common European Asylum System (CEAS) will be compiled and systematised, and where all activities will be disseminated as widely as possible. 2. In each of the three years of the project, a 90-hour course will be offered focusing on the study of EU Institutions and EU Law, and which will be taught in its entirety by Professor Ferrer, holder of the Jean Monnet Chair. 3. In addition, in each of the three years, a 40-hour course entitled ""The European Union in the face of major crises"" will be delivered at the Permanent University of the University of Alicante. 4. Furthermore, the organization of a permanent seminar of lectures each year, whose main topic will be the CEAS; and the results of which will be published in specialised journals, on the Project's website and a collective book on the CEAS. 5. In parallel with the permanent seminar, three series of roundtable debates under the general title of ""The European Union Common Policy on Asylum"", will be held, all of them open to the participation of the entire University Community and to the whole of civil society. 6. The members of the staff of this Jean Monnet Chair Project, in particular its holder, prof. Ferrer, will direct the Degree's or Master's final dissertations and PhD theses dealing with the more or less sectorial aspects of the CEAS. In sum, with the implementation of all the new teaching and research activities proposed in this Project of Jean Monnet Chair, the aim is to achieve greater knowledge and visibility for studies on the European integration process, and more particularly on CEAS, at the University of Alicante."
