"The NOC of Iceland (ÍSÍ) - The Sport for All dep. will be responsible for all impementation of all events and activities in the name of the European Week of Sport (EWoS) and #BeActive 2022 and 2023. The main goal for the EWOS in Iceland 2022 and 2023 is to encourage people of all ages, around the country, to find sports or physical activities that suits them the best. ÍSÍ adresses that being a member of a sport club, or the health society can empower people at all ages and with different background. During the EWoS, there will be two existing projects running connected to the week, Walk to school and the Olympic School run. Aprox 50.000 particip. These projects are strong brands, they will help to promote and make EWoS and the #BeActive bigger and stronger. ÍSÍ, in co.op with as many sport districts and municipalities as possible, around Iceland, will organize EWoS during the week. All offers should be able to make impact on people and encourage people to be physically active throughout life. Aprox 20.000 particip. The high schools will have a Health week which will be packed with physical activities and sports along with, educating seminars and lectures. The teachers will design in co.op with ÍSÍ, a program for the school. ÍSÍ will control and support them with this project and help them to promote. The #BeActive night will be held for the first time around the capital area during the evening/night between 24-25 of Sept. 2022 and 23-24. of Sept. 2023. ÍSÍ in co.op with some fitness centers and sports clubs will organize a big party with. Zumba, disco spinning, cross-fit madness, obstacle course and yoga. The Athletic federation in Iceland is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2022 and the plan is to set up in co.op with ÍSÍ a week packed with athletic try outs and some open games, a fun competition to take part in. The impact of all the above activities should lead to an increase of the awareness of the benefits of sport and being physcal active throughout life."
