The Forest Stronghold Wind Phone Exhibit at UK Chandler Hospital

University of Kentucky architecture students created an art exhibit called the wind phone, located in the atrium lobby of Pavilion A at UK Chandler Hospital. The wind phone is a symbolic installation designed to help people process grief and loss by providing a quiet, private space for reflection and release. The exhibit features a cypress tree log and maple wood slab connected by a steel blade, symbolizing the veil between life and death. The project was part of a design-build certificate program and incorporated sustainability by using repurposed wood from the UK Campus Woods program.
