Description | The Gateway Project is a $120 million renovation initiative by Rice University to modernize Rice Stadium and develop the west side of campus. The project includes extending Amherst Avenue to create a new gateway to campus, renovating Rice Stadium with improved sightlines, a 360-degree concourse, new restroom and concession buildings, a new kitchen, and a southwest entry plaza. The stadium capacity will be reduced to about 30,000 to enhance fan experience. The project also includes a new practice pavilion and mixed-use development with retail, housing, restaurants, a grocery store, and public greenspace. Construction is expected to start after the 2026 football season and complete before the 2028 season. |
