Description

Description

"THE GOLDMAN CASE is a compelling court-room drama based on the real trial of Pierre Goldman, a French left-wing revolutionary. The film depicts the appeal hearing of Goldman, who was convicted of several armed robberies, one of which resulted in the death of two women. Despite being sentenced to life imprisonment, Goldman pleads not guilty to the murder charges. The court proceedings receive extensive media coverage, transforming Goldman into a romantic figure and a hero of the intellectual left. However, his relationship with his young attorney, Georges Kiejman, becomes strained. Goldman's unpredictable and agitative nature throws his own trial into chaos, risking a death sentence. The film not only presents a psycho-pathological portrait of a militant revolutionary but also explores a society torn apart by racism and injustice that continue to persist today. Produced by MOONSHAKER, the Paris-based company behind Netflix's documentary ""Lord of Scam"" (2021), The Goldman Case is written and directed by Cédric Kahn, known for films like ""Two Much Happiness"" (1994), ""The Prayer"" (2018), and ""Wild Life"" (2014). The film had its world premiere in Cannes Director's Fortnight in 2023, where it received positive acclaim from critics and was included amongst the top 10 films from Cannes Film Festival of main trade media like Screen, Variety or The Hollywood Reporter. CHARADES is boosting the Pan-European release of THE GOLDMAN CASE, gathering in this application the local release amongst 14 European territories, with 8 distribution partners."
