Description

Description

The project consists of upgrading an aging wastewater treatment plant in Cap-Acadie, NB. The existing infrastructure is in need of major upgrades and increased capacity to meet the growing needs of the community, along with a new longer offshore outfall into the Northumberland Strait. This project is Phase 2 of a two-phase project. Phase 1 consists of the construction of a new headworks building, and Phase 2 is to upgrade the lagoon system, build directionally drilled offshore outfall, and replacement of major equipment. The scope of this project, Phase 2, includes: upgrading the lagoon system by reconstructing three lagoon cells, replacing major equipment such as the floating aeration system, reconstructing 3,500 metres of wastewater pipes, and building a new directionally drilled offshore outfall to meet mixing requirements for the facility. The rural communities in the Greater Shediac Region will benefit from increased capacity to treat and manage wastewater.
