Economic/Social Impact of the Project The modernization / expansion of our two plants at Dalavoi and Sankaridurg, Salem Tamil Nadu, we had applied for grant of relaxation under Section 6/1/b of MMDR Act 1957, for our limestone mines. The mining of limestone covers an area to the extent of 74.81.0 hectares of patta land in Periyathirukonam, Reddipalayam and Edayathangudi villages and renewal of mining lease for limestone mines to the extent of 94.59.0 hectares of Maravarperungudi village Aruppukottai Taluk, Virudhunagar District of Tamil Nadu. The renewal of mining lease in the limestone mines in the above two districts are crucial for the modernization / expansion of our plants at Dalavoi and Sankaridurg, Salem. The modernization and expansion project cost more than Rs. 1100 crores. In order to get the clearance for the renewal of mining lease Govt. of Tamil Nadu has sent these two cases to Ministry of Mines, Govt. of India on 7th February 2013 and 12th August, 2013. In the absence of clearance from Ministry of Mines, Govt. of Tamil Nadu is unable to process of our application for grant of renewal of mining lease.
