Description

Description

The Morris Road Drain and Stormwater Management (SWM) project will see the construction of a new stormwater facility which will reduce historical, local flooding issues and improve the water quality that is entering the Lake Simcoe basin as part of the uncontrolled stormwater coming from Bradford West Gwillimbury. 57% of Bradford West Gwillimbury is without stormwater control. The project captures an urban drainage area of 136 ha resulting in an increase in water quality controlled area from 33% to 41%. The work will include a new stormwater pond and the construction of approximately 750m of open channel in order to gain sufficient outlet. The Town’s Morris Road Drain Report and the Comprehensive Stormwater Management Master Plan identify the opportunity for the new SWM to be constructed to address uncontrolled drainage and reduce impacts due to local flooding.
