Description
Description | In this application, the Dutch program team PIEZO asks the European Commission for financial support to implement Patient Summary A in the Netherlands. The implementation of PS-A follows the realization of the first use case PS-B when the Dutch NCPeH went live a year ago. The NCPeH is up and running and for PS-A some new features need to be added to the services and software. The main goal will be to connect with Dutch data sources to be able to produce the Patient Summary for the authorized health care providers in Europe. Dutch GP’s fill in the electronic health record (EHR) of their patients and keep track of their medical history, medicine use and many more data that can be found in the PS. It involves three connections between NCPeH and Dutch national services: 1) the registry of personal identification numbers and data of Dutch citizens, 2) the registry of consent to medical data sharing, 3) the data network used by General Practitioners (GPs). The GPs have already been using an infrastructure for mutual exchange between Dutch GPs, pharmacies, and other medical bodies for over 10 years (called LSP) and it has proven to be successful. With a connection to this GP-network LSP, the NCPeH can access up to 90% of the Dutch GPs and this of course also applies to their patients dossiers. With this information, 70% of the data elements of the European PS can be filled. The Member States’ cooperation via MyHealth@EU paves the way to reach the following general objectives: - Enable seamless cross-border care and secure access to patient health information between European healthcare systems. -Contribute to patient safety by reducing the frequency of medical errors and by providing quick access to patient health information, as well as by increasing the accessibility of a patient's own prescriptions, also when abroad. - Provide medical personnel with life-saving information in emergencies and reduce the repetition of diagnostic procedures. |
