Description
Description | "Our history and past experiences, even the most tragic ones, build our future. Therefore, teaching future generations about the historical heritage is crucial to build the future based on awareness, rememberance and mutual understandig. The project entitled ""The Past builds the Future - Neighbours of Equal Rights"" aims to raise awareness of common history, culture and cultural heritage, as well as commemorating the victims of crimes under totalitarian regimes, with particular emphasis on Holocaust remembrance. The need to implement the project arose from the need for continuous education in this field and inspiring new generations of Europeans. The project assumes cooperation at the transnational level among partners from Czestochowa (PL), Rezekne (LV) and Vilnius (LT) and involves participation of students and teachers as well as of policy makers, opinion makers, societal leaders and other multipliers. The project engages different actors with specific priority to students with disabilities. Three schools in Częstochowa will participate as associated partners in the project: Primary School No. 21, Special School Complex No. 28 and Secondary School No. 5. The workshops and events will be organized in these schools. Cities participating in the project were traditionally, in the period before the Second World War, multicultural areas with Jewish communities. Activities undertaken in the project are intended to raise awareness on common legacy and commemorate the Holocaust. The cooperation in this field, based mainly on different dimensions of education, will allow our societies to open up and thus to tackle the challenge of Holocaust denial and distortion, as well as to combat antisemitism. Activities planned under the project estimate to help to build mutual respect and respect for the history of the Holocaust, taking into account the rights of all people, regardless of gender, origin, religion or material status. In consequence, they are expected to impact participants’ attitudes towards Europe’s history, its values and its culture." |
