The protection of the euro - The fight against counterfeiting and fraud on euro banknotes

A seminar to be attended by all European countries using banknotes plus Croatia (a user to be in a near future) and Turkey. The fight against counterfeiting with a direct involvement of the NCOs, NCCs, NACs and other national authorities. A share of experiences between the participants about counterfeit banknotes, composed ones with the application of counterfeited security features, mutilated by IBNS. Tests and experiments in the labs of Banco de Portugal and Policia Judiciária will be performed. Also an experiment will be performed by a Portuguese company with significant development on IBNS devices can be followed by the participants in order to get an overview about the effect of the ink on an euro banknotes. Tests to determine the resilience of the ink to different chemical products will be done in the labs. The duration of this seminar will be 3 days. The premises of Banco de Portugal and Policia Judiciária will be the headquarters. Nevertheless, if needed, an on-line seminar, on an hybrid version, will be considered.
