Description
Description | """The Revolt of the Whores"" is a feature-length animation documentary. It tells a true story, the biography of Amelia Tiganus, born in Romania, sold to a trafficking network in Spain and now a feminist activist and writer with Spanish citizenship, living in the Basque Country. It is a personal and intimate European story that addresses an issue that affects hundreds of thousands of women around the world. The format chosen to tell Amelia's story is that of collaborative animation, on a documentary basis. This approach will allow a wide range of female filmmakers from different European countries to put their voices at the service of Amelia's story. The production design involves the collaboration of very different studios, with very different styles. We believe that this type of approach, transversal and open, is very enriching both for the story and for generating new dynamics within the audiovisual sector. The impact of Artificial Intelligences in the animation sector makes it essential to remember that the important thing is always the story and its impact on the audience. Combining traditional animation with new languages, mixed media and AI-assisted creation will generate not only a film of high artistic interest, but also a demonstration that what is relevant is always the story, the final result and its emotional impact on the audience. The collaboration of companies from Western Europe -Arena Comunicación, Spain- with Eastern Europe -Animashort, Romania, and Films & Chips, Czech Republic- will show the richness of European diversity. The filming, in a remote village in the Basque Country, will feed animated sequences in Bucharest. In terms of content, we believe the film addresses a particularly relevant issue in Europe today: the prostitution industry. Telling Amelia's story enriches the public debate on the subject, always focusing on the exploited women. It is a personal story that interests a global audience." |
